Controversy Repaid with Achievement by Hogwarts Legacy

Prior to its release, there was a group of people who boycotted games within the Harry Potter universe. The reason is, J.K Rowling is considered to have views that are not in line with certain gender groups. However, this boycott threat turned out to mean nothing to the achievements obtained by Hogwarts Legacy.

Warner Bros, as the developer of this game, should be able to breathe a little easier about the controversy that didn't affect much of the fans' interest. This is proven by the record that Hogwarts Legacy just got, namely being the most watched single-player game on Twitch, you could even say breaking the viewing record on this streaming platform.

We can see this surge in interest on February 7, 2023, where Hogwarts Legacy was watched by more than 1.2 million people at the same time. This is surely an achievement in itself. Because previously, this record was held by Cyberpunk 2077 which had hype in 2020. Cyberpunk 2077 itself was witnessed by more than 1.14 million people in one period.

The large number of viewers may also be influenced by the incentives provided by Warner Bros. as the developer. The reason is, it is said that there will be 5 in-game item prizes that will be given to those who watch the Hogwarts Legacy stream for 2 hours or more.

For those who are wondering, how can streamers on Twitch play on February 7, 2023, while the game itself was released on February 10, 203. That's because Hogwarts Legacy issued a Deluxe Edition version, where buyers will get early-access on February 7, 2023.

With this large number of viewers, are you interested in trying Hogwarts Legacy?
