One of the prestigious Apex Legends tournaments, ALGS (APEX Legends Global Series) has been surprised by the retreat of one of their biggest teams in the competitive scene. Starting from Cloud 9, then Team liquid, and a couple days later G2 have all retreated from ALGS. 

The departure of G2 is verified by an upload from official account @G2esports that posted a farewell poster and parting words. “Today we depart from competitive Apex Legends. Thank you for being our Apex Champions @G2Resultuh, @G2Chaotic, and @G2Dezignful.”

The departure of G2 Esports from ALGS is the aftermath of their teams failure of qualifying for ALGS Split 1 Playoff LAN held in London, England. Even though they failed to qualify, G2 Esports has top players with solid performances all throughout 2022. G2 Esports’ withdrawal has caused their ex players to become free agents. 

With the status of free agent, G2 players can be scouted by other professional APEX Legends teams. This has happened previously, where XSET takes Team Liquid’s winning roster to participate in the upcoming 2023 competition that will be held in London. 

This isn’t G2 Esports’ first time disbanding a team. Back in October 2022, G2 also disbanded their Valorant division. However, not because of failing to qualify, G2 Esports’ Valorant division was disbanded because of management issues. 

With the departure of this Eastern European team, there is less and less you can watch in ALGS. Nevertheless, do not worry, big team names like Fnatic, DarkZero Esports, and Furia Esports are still competing fiercely to rock the ALGS stage.
